In just over a month time, 10 nations taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest Semi finals, will be joining France, Italy, the UK, Spain, Germany, Austria And special guest Australia in the grand final on May 23. Hoping to join them as well from semi final two qualfiers, are Latvia and their mysterious performer Aminata.

Aminata Sodovago, fulfilled her status as favourite to beat in the new Latvian preselection, Supernova 2015, back in February and not to much surprise. The Riga born 22 year old composer and singer, outshone the competition field with her very intriguing entry Love Injected’.

Being exposed to a lot of different cultural influences coming from her parents, her mother is of Latvian and Russian descent, while her father comes from Burkina Faso, Love Interjected is perhaps not that much of a surprise. The Latvian entry is edgy, packed with different rhythmic layers, and above all very un-Eurovision like. Aminita herself seems a bit of a love child, between former R&B star Aaliyah voice-wise and current upcoming rising star FKA Twigs production style. Is that a problem? Not at all, the bottom line after all is, Latvia have made an effort in choosing something very final worthy with Aminata, and it would be an absolute shame if they didn’t qualify this time around.

Aminata will also be performing at the London Eurovision Party April 26 in Cafe De Paris.
